BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAM

My Board and Train Program is unlike any other.

One unique part of my Board and Train Program is the addition of 2-3 sessions in-home prior to your dogs overnight stay. During this time we will implement Leadership techniques and practice basic exercises to condition your dog to a lifestyle of learning and earning what he or she wants with good behavior. This will also help with a seamless transition back home after boarding. In addition, the boarding environment is home-like and accommodates your dogs need for a warm and nurturing environment.

Over the 10-14 night stay, your dog will learn all the skills he or she needs to live an obedient, happy, and safe life that perfectly accommodates your household and lifestyle. The program covers both Basic and Advanced training.

During the Basic phase, positive reinforcement techniques using high value treats will be implemented to create a foundation for Advanced Training. The Basic training gives me the opportunity to establish a warm and loving relationship with your dog which, in turn, will earn your dog’s respect. Once my Leadership is defined and your dog understands what I am asking for with each cue, we will move to Advanced training. Advanced training will proof your dog’s skills so that they are reliable and consistent in any environment, providing the best training outcome.

Skills practiced include but are not limited to:

Leash Walking, Sit, Down, Place, Stay, Off, Come, Socialization, Behavior Modification, Impulse Control

In addition to training sessions, your dog will be exposed to the home environment, and plenty of exercise including running and playing in an open fenced-in yard, hiking, and field trips. Distractions are added in practice to improve your dog’s skills and impulse control and help him or her generalize it to different places and under different circumstances. Your dog will practice the socialization that is crucial for all dogs to live a comfortable and confident life. Eligible dogs will have plenty of opportunities to socialize and play with other dogs. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, he or she will spend extra time exercising and training to replace the problem behaviors with desirable ones, giving you control over your dog and allowing him or her to calmly enjoy environments where there is exposure to other dogs. Whatever the situation may be, your dog will have the appropriate balance between train, play, and rest. To ensure this level of quality, I only accept a limited number of dogs at one time.

I believe communication and demonstration by the trainer is extremely important. You will get an update on progress and any information you need to make the transition back home seamless when the time comes. Upon completion of the program, we will have a go home session and you will be provided with all the materials and literature needed to practice and maintain training and consistency. I will teach you how to be an effective Leader for your dog. Don’t worry yourself thinking that you won’t have the same bond with your dog if you aren’t doing the initial hands-on training, because that is entirely untrue with my program.

Unlimited follow up sessions are included in the Board and Train Program and can be used at any time within 18 months of Board and Train completion. It is important that you practice the exercises provided when your dog returns and continue to maintain training throughout your dog’s life. A professional trainer can teach skills to a point where the behaviors are fluent and generalized, but they will never be truly learned without maintenance and practice at home and in surrounding environments!

Your dog’s accommodations include an extra large crate that can be fitted with a comfortable orthopedic bed or blanket for non-chewers. Safe bones, chews, and Kongs are provided to occupy your dog while he or she is not catching up on much needed rest. Outside of the crate, your dog’s natural need for an enriching and mentally stimulating environment will be satisfied with fun and durable toys, safe quality bones, food puzzles, and more. A large fenced-in yard is accessible for potty breaks, training, play, and free time.

All in all, this program brings you results in a shorter amount of time with less work on your end. The Board and Train Program includes all of the follow up notes and practice needed to maintain your dog’s training and continue a healthy and balanced lifestyle for your dog. Follow up sessions will help strengthen your understanding of your dog and how he or she learns, in addition to how to successfully practice skills in all environments.
